An artist’s despair that his/her creations will eventually lose all meaning. My research explores mark making, self preservation, and impermanence. This work comes from years of looking at ancient artifacts, and being in awe of civilizations that are now fragmented stories, dead languages, and forgotten monuments in the desert. It is human nature to wish to leave a part of yourself behind. I create works to document my presence, memories, and thoughts, but I cope with the notion that what I make will eventually deteriorate, and ultimately disappear.
